The population and housing data is very important for the government to formulate policies for the well-being of the nation. This is to ensure that every plan meets the needs of the target groups and no one is left out.

The First Phase

The first phase of the census - the e-census and computer-assisted telephone interviews - which was extended to Oct 6 from Sept 30 will continue from Oct 7 until Dec 21.

The Second Phase

The second phase of the Population and Housing Census to be carried out this month has been rescheduled to Jan 20 to Feb 6, 2021, in view of the recent spike in COVID-19 cases in the country, said Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed. This phase involves face-to-face interviews, was originally scheduled for Oct 7 to 24, but had been rescheduled.

MEDIA STATEMENT

Census 2020 would continue to be implemented with the standard operating procedure (SOP) and subject to notifications from time to time.
